Problem with mh_make setup?

Hi,
I'm packaging thredds, netcdf-java.
After some effort (I'm not really a Java programmer) I got mh_make to
succeed, but when I try to build
the package I get:
[INFO] Not compiling test sources
[INFO] [compiler:testCompile {execution: default-testCompile}]
[INFO] Not compiling test sources

[INFO] Tests are skipped.
[INFO] [jar:jar {execution: default-jar}]

/srv/build/thredds/thredds-4.5.3/udunits/target/classes (Is a directory)
I'm not building tests/docs to start with. The java files are compiled
into target/classes ok but the Jar files
are not built. How do I proceed from here? how to debug?
