I'd like to mention the jdeb project that creates a Debian binary
package from a Maven based project (I also happen to contribute to this
project):

https://github.com/tcurdt/jdeb

That's an easy alternative for a developer to package its project for
Debian using the tools he knows and in a cross platform manner.

Could there be a way to "bless" the packages produced by jdeb and get
them uploaded in the Debian repository?
