The problem started with gcj version > 4.4, and it was the same for
openjdk-6 (which was switch back to gcj-4.4 on mips/mipsel when the
problem started). However I have never been able to really understand
the problem, and I understand we can't keep gcj-4.4 eternally in the
archive.

I hope someone with more time will be able to dig into the problem, the
code is there to support mips, so there should not be that much to
change. In the meantime defaulting to gcj seems to be the things to do.
