Can you please try with jamvm or cacao together with classpath from
experimental? That is the newest stuff we have in the archive.

I installed classpath from experimental and tried running using jamvm but it failed.

pravi@icon104:~/Downloads$ sudo update-alternatives --config java

There are 7 alternatives which provide `java'.

  Selection    Alternative
-----------------------------------------------
      1        /etc/alternatives/kaffe-system/bin/java
      2        /opt/jdk1.5.0_06/bin/java
      3        /opt/jrockit-j2sdk1.4.2_08/bin/java
      4        /usr/bin/gij-wrapper-4.0
      5        /usr/bin/jamvm
*+    6        /usr/lib/jvm/java-gcj/jre/bin/java
      7        /usr/bin/gij-wrapper-4.1

Press enter to keep the default[*], or type selection number: 5
Using `/usr/bin/jamvm' to provide `java'.
pravi@icon104:~/Downloads$ java -version
java version " 1.4.2"

pravi@icon104:~/Downloads$ java -jar electricBinary-8.03.jar
Current Java memory limit of 134MEG is too small, rerunning Electric with a memory limit of 1000MEG
pravi@icon104:~/Downloads$

With gcj I'm able to see the  splash screen and messages window.
