Jeff,
~    I am inclined to say this should be left to README.Debian, since not
all people who install liblucene-java and liblucene-java-doc may want
such an intrusive demo app installed by default.  The tomcat-webapps
package has faced a similar issue, and minimizing impact of a default
installation seems to be what led to the administration and sample web
applications being split out from the actual server's package.  After
discovering how much configuration is involved witht the Lucene web app
demo, I have wondered if we shouldn't just install it to the doc folders
and have users install it manually.
