Building completly from source (was: Debian Bugs information: logs for Bug#221236)

Hello Arnaud,

eclipse for a starter...

Please wait with doing this until after the sarge release and after
the new policy. I have no problem with this action, but I would
like to deal with it in one go and not one after each other.

As for eclipse:

* The version of tomcat isn't in debian anymore, so we would need to
package a old version and upload it, just to get eclipse working.
* The ant version is ok after the next release. Unfortunatelly they use
the complete ant, not only libant, so Stefan would need to package the
optional jars 'Api like' (installable in different versions).
* The xerces version of eclipse isn't packaged yet. They use a
IBM maintainance stream, which is somehow not compatible anought
with the normal jakarta xerces.

So in short: I would like to get eclipse into sarge (if tahts still
possible...) and it won't happen when you file RC bugs about this
issues. It's in contrib, so Ifeel confortable with this issues being
present in sarge. YMMV.

Jan
