Re: guidelines for making Java software easy to package for debian?

I suppose the ideal thing to do would be to have the GNU coding
standards updated to address the issues re. installing Java programs,
and to change automake to implement such standards. But that sounds
like a bigger project than getting Debian/Java standards and
implementing them myself without automake's help.

And yes, I'm looking for something with implications upstream, as it
looks now like it would be best for me to remain an "upstream"
maintainer, though I'd still like to do something to facilitate debian
packaging of my software and the software it depends on.
