Hi,

I'm setting up the Japanese environment on my laptop and, thanks to the kind
assistance of several people on this list, I've made a large amount of progress.
I've run into another problem with my kterm environment and I was wondering if anyone
had any ideas. Currently, there seems to be some difficulty with the locale and the
fonts used by kterm. Here's an example:

goldman@acme:~>man man
man(1) を再フォーマットしています。しばらくお待ちください...
invalid charset name
man: コマンドはステータス 256 で終了しました: /usr/bin/zsoelim /tmp/zmanOUSCUL |
 /usr/bin/tbl | /usr/bin/nroff -mandoc -Tnippon | jless

Just typing "jless" produces the response "invalid charset name". In my .Xresources
file, I've added the lines:

KTerm*font: -shinonome-gothic-medium-r-normal--14-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1
KTerm*romanKanaFont: -shinonome-gothic-medium-r-normal--14-*-*-*-*-*-jisx0208.19
90-0
KTerm*kanjiFont: -shinonome-gothic-medium-r-normal--14-*-*-*-*-*-jisx0208.1990-0
KTerm*boldFont: -shinonome-gothic-bold-r-normal--14-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1
KTerm*romanKanaBoldFont: -shinonome-gothic-bold-r-normal--14-*-*-*-*-*-jisx0208.
1990-0
KTerm*kanjiBoldFont: -shinonome-gothic-bold-r-normal--14-*-*-*-*-*-jisx0208.1990
-0

but this doesn't help. I observe the same problem when using "kon2" on the
console. All fonts are installed so I'm not sure what the problem is. Thanks
for any advice...
