Purtroppo non ha funzionato.
Addentrandomi nel problema, riesco a riprodurlo a mano, eseguendo
questo comando:
systemctl kill -s HUP rsyslog.service
che viene lanciato da
/usr/lib/rsyslog/rsyslog-rotate
Se eseguo
/etc/init.d/rsyslog start (o restart) nessun problema
se eseguo
systemctl stop rsyslog.service
o anche /etc/init.d/rsyslog stop
ottengo
Warning: Stopping rsyslog.service, but it can still be activated by:
syslog.socket
e il processo gira ancora.
Sembra che il problema sia rsyslog che non ne voglia sapere di morire.
Per curiosità, ho provato ad eseguire anche
