come hai fatto ad impostare il multiarch?
c'è stata una discussione qualche giorno fa, io ho aggiunto al 
sources.list come di seguito:

deb [arch=amd64,i386] http://ftp.it.debian.org/debian/ testing main 
non-free contrib

ma esiste anche l'opzione:

dpkg --add-architecture i386
