Controlla cosa c'è che non va provando a cercare il server: prima vedi
se il problema è di DNS usando dig:
dig ftp.it.debian.org

Credo che sia un problema di DNS, allora, in quanto l'indirizzo IP
vero di ftp.it.debian.org è
213.92.8.5
Che DNS usi?
Se metti in /etc/hosts la riga
213.92.8.5 ftp.it.debian.org
dovrebbe andare

Il mio dsn è questo: 192.168.1.1
Ho provato ad inserire quello che mi hai detto..ora non vi sono più problemi facendo apt-get upgrade!!! e riesce ad installarmi i pacchetti!! però con iceweasel non vuole proprio sapere di aprirsi, mentre, non so perchè mi apre sempre tutti gli altri.. de, fr, etc..etc..
