errore cd audio (dma o kernel?)



sarge.
ho appena montato un masterizzatore samsung. con windows non ho
problemi. stessa cosa con ubuntu breezy. ubuntu hoary invece mi da gli
stessi problemi di sarge.
non è il primo masterizzatore che uso, prima avevo un liteon che andava
a meraviglia.

ad ogni modo il problema è questo:
La masterizzazione funziona, i cd dati funzionano. L'unica cosa che non
va - molto stranamente, per me - sono i cd audio. quando provo a
suonarli (con cdcd o un frontend tipo il lettore cd di gnome) il cd non
parte nemmeno e nei log trovo questo errore:

Ancora più strano cdcd info o cdcd track mi danno le informazioni
corrette. L'unica cosa che non funziona è il play!
Ho provato a togliere il dma con un hdparm -d0 /dev/hdc ma niente.
L'unica distro che funziona (ne ho 3 installate) è ubuntu breezy con un
kernel 2.6.13.
Ho guardato se potevo pasticciare nel bios della motherboard ma non ho 
trovato niente di appropriato.

Qualche idea per risolvere il problema? magari un parametro al boot?
