Ataraid e kernel 2.6

Salve,
nella mia macchina ho una sarge con kernel 2.4, ed un ataraid di questo tipo:

Ho ricompilato il kernel al 2.6.11.12, ma anche abilitando ogni supporto Raid,
l'ataraid non viene montato (non bootstrappa per niente..). Ho letto in giro che
non verrà più supportato a livello kernel, ma bisognerà utilizzare soluzioni
software quali device-mapper. Si parla anche di dmraid, ne sapete qualcosa?
Qualcuno ha provato il passaggio al kernel 2.6 con device di questo tipo?
