debian on Asus P4C800 Deluxe[WAS: installazione sarge][lunga!]

hai ragione scusatemi, l'ho letto ora, e non ci ho capito un granche'...
in compenso ho trovato un bell'how-to in inglese che spiega come crearsi
i floppy per un controller raid della promise..
ci sono dei punti oscuri(per me) nei driver che da la asus:
- quelli per il controller raid sono solo per Red Hat e Suse
entrambi, da quel che ho capito, utili "solo" per crearsi i floppy 
d'installazione iniziali,
tralasciando il resto, questa mi pare la cosa piu' importante:

2.3 To install the FastTrak Driver into a NEW SYSTEM :
    1. Start the RedHat Linux Installation booting from the CD ROM.
    2. At the "Welcome to Red Hat Linux ..." installation screen, look for
       the "boot:" prompt at the bottom of the screen.
    3. At the "boot:" prompt, type "expert" (without quote marks) then press
       the Enter key.
    4. At the "Devices" dialog box, insert the FastTrak Driver Disk in the
       floppy drive then select "OK" or "Yes".
    5. Continue with the system installation normally.
    6. When the "Congratulations" menu appears, press Ctrl-Alt-F2.
    7. Make sure "/tmp/fd0" has been umounted and with the FastTrak Driver
       Disk in the floppy drive, type the following commands:

       # chroot /mnt/sysimage
       # mount /dev/fd0 /mnt
       # cd /mnt
       # sh setup-ft
       # cd /
       # umount /mnt
       # exit

    8. After successful FastTrak driver setup. Press Ctrl-Alt-F7 and click
       the "Exit" button to finish the installation.

la cosa non penso sia fattibile da debian(o cmq non mi e' mai capitato)

sto pensando di bootare normalmente senza rai ricompilare il kernel e 
provare  ad installare i suddetti driver,
di seguito attivare il mirroring, ho pero' le idee un po' confuse...consigli?
il raid integrato si ricrea in automatico anche le partizioni?
