Boh, il metodo piu' rapido che mi viene in mente e' fare un:

telnet indirizzo_news_server 119

Esempio:

manu@manu [~] $ telnet news.mclink.it 119
Trying 195.110.128.18...
Connected to net128-018.mclink.it.
Escape character is '^]'.
200 newsreader1.mclink.it InterNetNews NNRP server INN 2.3.2 (20010321
prerelease) ready (posting ok).
