You just need to add the relevant symlinks from each site to your single
copy of the source. Each site has its own typo3conf, typo3temp,
fileadmin, uploads folders (etc), while being symlinked to a single
For this particular install I'd recommend installing typo3 manually from
their .tgz distribution rather than using the Debian package, just for
the extra control over where it goes, and being able to have multiple
versions installed side-by-side (just in case you run into a scenario
where a user shouldn't be automatically upgraded when everyone else is).
Installing the .tgz distribution shouldn't affect an already-installed
Debian package, so it ought to be safe to play with to test things out.

How can this be done?
I've Read The Fine Docs(TM), googled already about this, and also
searched the mailinglists archives, but to no avail. :-(
Thanks for any help.
