RE: Debian - Should be: Experience of Debian as 1gb/s router?



Hi,

Route and filter one gig/s of data through a PC is kind of problematic.
If Linux and GPL stuff is the only choice and with the below specifications
my bet is that it would max out at approx. 500 Mbps with >512 byte packets. 

Smaller packet sizes ecuals less over all performance in Mbps.

I'd go hw-based.
