Exim not accepting undescore in server name?

Has anyone had this issue? I have a server named da_vinci.sculptcad.com,
and when I try to send an e-mail to root@da_vinci.sculptcad.com, it fails.
It appears to break at the underscore and returns fails with the error
message:

501 <root@da_vinci.sculptcad.com>: malformed address:
_vinci.sculptcad.com> may not follow <root@da
