If you haven't gotten Courier working with maildir, you probably ought not to start flailing about with patches.

If sendmail is delivering mail to a file:

	 /var/spool/mail/seeb1

...then you are delivering to mbox.

Courier requires maildir. This a feature for those of us who have spent some time recovering mbox .

You might look @ qpopper if sendmail is not convenient to configure for maildir.

You might also look @ postfix which is easier to deal with than sendmail.
