Quota in big systems
Looking for some input about using quota in a web environment.
The system is built with front ends (2.6 kernel) with NFS mounted file
system for user data the NFS back ends (2.6 kernel), file system is XFS.
The user base will be around ~200k VirtualHosts with somewhere between
250-300k users.
How well does the file system quota scale? I know from previous
experiences, from 2.4.x that quota didn't scale too well in big systems.
An alternative would be to use quota in the ftpd but that would not
catch files uploaded or created via cgi it will be harder to enforce
quotas if more ways to access the users files like samba/sftp/webdav are
added.
