munin and nagios
I wonder if anyone has run into this (and found a solution). I have a fairly
complex munin installation with multiple hosts. Also, I have set warning and
critical threshholds in munin and configured it to use send_nsca in case a
warning or critical limit gets hit. This sends the warning to nagios from
where I want to send it on using nagios features of when to send it where
(E-mail or sms). Now the problem is that nagios complains that the host and
service is not defined in the nagios config. According to nagios docs there
seems to be no way around putting all possible services and all possible
hosts I want to monitor into its config. From experience, I'd rather not do
this. As it means alot of work when adding hosts or adding monitors to munin.
Is there a way to create objects for any passive checks that get send to
nagios or should I look at a different system alltogether for processing and
sending out the alerts? nagios is quite nice as it gives a history and also
sends out a critical only once and not every 5 mins...
thanks
