In my understanding the latest 2.4 and 2.6 kernels don't need any
patches for VLAN functionality.

In my test I had no problems with Intel and RTL8139 based cards. On the
other end there were a 3com and a SiS900 based cards, which did not work.
Most of the problems are with MTU settings in the driver.
(oh, and tulip was OK, too.)

I think if it supports 802.1q standard, then it should work for all
vendors.
