For Maildir based Mail servers I use the Postfix mail server with Procmail
for delivery (Debian Procmail has a patch for Maildir) and use the Qmail POP
server to read the mail. Currently it seems that the Qmail POP server seems
to be the only POP server that does Maildir. I may patch one of the other
POP servers for Maildir in the next few weeks as this is functionality I need.
