Laptop ?

I have a friend with a toshiba 220cds laptop.  She knocked it off her coffee 
table a few weeks ago.  Her laptop now will not run off the battery, and 
when you plug it in the wall with the battery in it, it willload windows and 
then it will just shut off and the power button will start flashing.  But... 
 If you plug it in the wall without the battery in place, it will work just 
fine.

any help would be greatly appreciated.
