Let me put it another way, I can see various permutations:

a) If the user has nothing in interfaces, then the IPv6 will just do
SLAAC by itself anyway.  If it receives an RA with M=1 it won't have
any dhclient process running and it won't start one and so it has no
address and no DNS.

b) if the user has
iface eth0 inet6 auto
then they will experience the same as (a) above

c) if the user has
iface eth0 inet6 dhcp
then it will use dhclient, it will work on networks where M=1 in the
RA and (will or won't ????) work when plugged into a network that uses
SLAAC?
