Hi Debian folks An high experimental package of incoming Proftpd 1.2.9rc2 has been just uploaded to experimental as 1.2.8+cvs20030818-1. Some changes need yet to be merged from current unstable 1.2.8-9, anyway they are really minor changes, and it will be done with next releases. The new packages are also available soon by deb http://people.debian.org/~frankie/debian/sid/experimental/proftpd-ipv6/ ./ deb-src http://people.debian.org/~frankie/debian/sid/experimental/proftpd-ipv6/ ./ I'll not include these packages in sid until proftpd folks will not release a stable version of 1.2.9 (RC2 is really not yet out). Backports to 1.2.8 are eventually possible. This is the first release with upstream support for IPv6 (which missed in 1.2.8 and was unofficial/buggy in previous debian releases) and correct a lots of bugs. See http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/*checkout*/proftp/proftpd/NEWS?rev=1.467 for a long list of issues solved. Please read also: http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/*checkout*/proftp/proftpd/README.IPv6?rev=1.2 for IPv6 known problems, limitations and issues. So, here we go: test it and report problems on BTS with experimental tagging. -- Francesco P. Lovergine
