Soon after the release of gnome-settings-daemon 43.0 (which I assume
will be the version used in Debian 12), upstream pushed this commit to
master:

When submitting (and fixing) https://bugs.debian.org/1031227 I wasn't
aware of that g-s-d commit.
Anyway, letting im-config set GTK_IM_MODULE=ibus in GNOME on Xorg
sessions is motivated in Debian 12. The news is that we can stop it from
doing so once g-s-d 44 makes it to unstable/testing.
