Bug#988540: im-config: breaks the keyboard configuration

Hi,

I also have updated around XIM bugs with more subdued tone. As long as you type
ASCII characters only, you may not hit bugs (I hope.)

Hmmm... gnome-terminal may be bloated but we can use other lighter terminal programs.

I don't have any issue displaying English/French/Chinese/Japanese/... So I am
curious why you are struggling with font and terminal.

Are you using UTF-8 locale? Even if you want to use text file encoded in Latin-1
mostly, it will be better to set up system as UTF-8 and use editor functionality to
access Latin-1 encoded files.

My terminal uses:

Backspace key generates ASCII DEL
Delete key generates ESCAPE sequence
Encoding Unicode -- UTF-8
Ambiguous width characters: narrow
Custom font: Hack Nerd Font

Regards,

Osamu
