Bug#905790: Patch available
I had some time to check further, there is an Ubuntu patch that makes
ibus-gtk rather check whether this was an upgrade or not, and only makes
the message display when upgrading from a very old version with the old
hotkey.
Upstream has tagged this notabug in their bug tracker:
https://code.google.com/archive/p/ibus/issues/1677
The Ubuntu patch can be obtained from this tarball:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/primary/+sourcefiles/ibus/1.5.11-1
ubuntu2.1/ibus_1.5.11-1ubuntu2.1.debian.tar.xz
DSC:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/primary/+sourcefiles/ibus/1.5.11-1
ubuntu2.1/ibus_1.5.11-1ubuntu2.1.dsc
Here is what it does:
"""

Please consider adding this patch in Debian too, it's a really big
papercut and a deterrent to new users. Thanks!
