added i386 architecture to an amd64 system to add packages so that I could compile wine32. Too complicated. Gave up. Tried to remove the i386 packages. Would not remove. Hangs at removing gir1.2-ibus-1.0:amd64 and i386. Breaks the dselect package management system, aptitude, etc. apt-get still works?

Tried hack on internet in the postinst file of the deb package. Added i386 after package name. Did not work.

"Errors were encountered while processing:

 gir1.2-ibus-1.0:i386
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)"

This is the error report at the end of an apt-get install process.
