If it is 2 -dbg
override_dh_strip:
        dh_strip -Xlibibus-1.0-5-dbg --dbg-package=ibus-dbg
        dh_strip -Xibus              --dbg-package=libibus-1.0-5-dbg

We need to do this for 5 of them...
ibus
libibus-1.0-5
ibus-wayland
ibus-gtk
ibus-gtk3
gir1.2-ibus-1.0
(One -dbg for each binaries.  I was told this is the right way once by other people.)

Hmmm... or make one ibus-dbg having all these dbg symbols.  This is much
simpler to do.

override_dh_strip:
        dh_strip --dbg-package=ibus-dbg

Do you know which is right? (At least for your local build, 2nd option
is easier.  Please do not forget to make debian/control entry for
ibus-dbg.
