Did you configure ibus from its GUI menu to ass mozc?
It performs just like ibus-scim.
What is this evil package doing here. I do not see ibus-scim in my sid
choice.

That is almost the same as me. xfce4 with many gnome apps is what I run
here now. xfce terminal was not as good fior some feature. So I am not
using it.
