R: Apt-get dist-upgrade squeeze->wheezy

>From rescue shell I'm trying to compile latest vanilla kernel (http://www.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git) and I get:

bettoni@integrity:~/linux$ make menuconfig
  HOSTCC scripts/basic/fixdep
scripts/basic/fixdep.c:106:23: fatal error: sys/types.h: File o directory non esistente
compilation terminated.
make[1]: *** [scripts/basic/fixdep] Error 1
make: *** [scripts_basic] Error 2

/usr/include/sys directory is missing.

How can I fix it ?

Hi

Now I get the following to recreate 2.6.32-5-mckinley initrd

# /usr/sbin/update-initramfs -u -k 2.6.32-5-mckinley

Hi,
Sorry for delay...

I don't know where to download 3.3.8 kernel config file used by gentoo installer kernel

The current squeeze->wheezy system does not boot (only with squeeze rescue CD/netboot)

I downgraded to the following squeeze packages (downloading packages and installing with dpkg):
initramfs-tools_0.98.8_all.deb
udev_164-3_ia64.deb
libudev0_164-3_ia64.deb

But it's not generating initrd, with errors I sent on past message.

I would like to have the wheezy system working booting 2.6.32 squeeze kernel.
So I will be able to compile 3.2 kernels with different configs to check what's wrong with debian one.

Fabio

Well,

I don't understand what's going wrong with your system.
I can confirm that both 3.3.8-gentoo and current Squeeze kernels are booting fine on my zx6000.

Did you try to rebuild Squeeze kernel using 3.3.8-gentoo .config file?
