Re: Initramfs image triggers a segmentation fault at startup

Hi,

I'm wondering if this issue may be related to the remark Dann Frazier
made on December 9th:

"klibc is buggy on ia64, so avoid initramfs-tools for now. Use yaird
instead."

(cf. http://lists.debian.org/debian-ia64/2005/12/msg00011.html)

Is klibc still buggy on ia64? Should we use initrd images built with
yaird at present time? I'm asking this because Debian Installer still
creates initramfs images and a fresh install of Debian Etch is thus
unbootable.
