xemacs21 crashes on startup

Hi,
	On i2000, the xemacs21 packages all crash on startup.
	I've tried mule and nomule variants; gnome and non-gnome
	variants.

	Lisp backtrace follows:

	  # (unwind-protect ...)
	  # (catch #<INTERNAL OBJECT (XEmacs bug?) (opaque-ptr, adr=0x6000000000034b48) 0x60000000000c07c0> ...)
	  # (unwind-protect ...)
	  valid-instantiator-p([cursor-font :data "xterm"] image)
	  # bind (how-to-add tag-set locale value specifier)
	    set-specifier(#<image-specifier global=<unspecified> fallback=((nil . ...)) 0x8a8> [cursor-font :data "xterm"] nil nil nil)
          # bind (how-to-add tag-set locale value property glyph)
	  set-glyph-property(#<glyph (pointer) #<image-specifier global=<unspecified> fallback=(...) 0x8a8>0x8a7> image [cursor-font :data "xterm"] nil nil nil)
	  # bind (how-to-add tag-set locale spec glyph) set-glyph-image(#<glyph (pointer) #<image-specifier global=<unspecified> fallback=(...) 0x8a8>0x8a7> [cursor-font :data "xterm"])
          # bind (device)
	  x-init-pointer-shape(#<x-device on ":0.0" 0x1e00>)
	  # bind (device)
	  x-init-device-faces(#<x-device on ":0.0" 0x1e00>)
          # bind (device)
	  init-device-faces(#<x-device on ":0.0" 0x1e00>)
	  # (unwind-protect ...)
	  # (unwind-protect ...)
          make-device(x nil)
	  # bind (display)
	  make-x-device(nil)
	  init-x-win()
          # bind (debugger debug-on-error command-line-args-left)
	  command-line()
	  # (condition-case ... . ((t (byte-code "o‡" ... 1))))
	  # bind (error-data)
	  normal-top-level()
	  # (condition-case ... . error)
	  # (catch top-level ...)
	  Illegal instruction

	  When started as xemacs -nw I get this, simpler, backtrace:

	  make-device(tty nil (terminal-type nil controlling-process nil))
	  # bind (controlling-process terminal-type tty)
	  make-tty-device(nil nil)
	  init-tty-win()
	  # bind (debugger debug-on-error
	  # command-line-args-left) command-line()
	  # (condition-case ... . ((t (byte-code "o‡" ... 1))))
	  # bind (error-data) normal-top-level()
	  # (condition-case ... . error)
	  # (catch top-level ...)
	  Segmentation fault
