As some added info, I noticed the same thing and filed bug #790117 [1] on mrpt source package but, as Joe says, many more are affected. As I said in the report, the strange thing is the "double dot"s are not present in the sources, so I suspect it might be something "done" by a packaging tool, but I was not able to understand the cause.
