Is this a replacement? discover1 is now completely obsoleted and the new discover (v2) has a different focus from discover1. Main function of discover1 was to load modules at boot time based on hardware detection (pre 2.6.12 kernels). This function was obsoleted by udev for Etch. The new discover currently has two main functions: - detection of graphics controller for X.Org autoconfiguration (expected no longer to be needed for Lenny) - installation of hardware specific packages based on hardware detection (fairly recently implemented by Petter; database is probably not very large yet) Cheers, FJP
