locale problem

Hi,

Trying different stuff, I've discovered that perl also complains about
my locale. Here is it:

bash-2.01$ makepasswd 
perl: warning: Setting locale failed.
perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings:
        LC_ALL = "en",
        LANG = "ja_JP"
    are supported and installed on your system.
perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale ("C").
PFQ1CPv0
bash-2.01$ 

The program is working, but complains. The LC_ALL and the LANG where set
by hand in .basrc and .bash_profile.

Any ideas ?
