apt update fails

I'm trying out the the KVM image as per https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/ports/stable/hurd-i386/README.txt , and after getting logged in, I run

# apt update

and get

E: Release file for http://snapshot.debian.org/archive/debian/20210812T10000000Z/dists/sid/InRelease is expired (invalid since 96d 7h 11 min 55s). Updates for this repository will not be applied.

I don't know what changes need to be made to "/etc/apt/sources.list" to fix this.

(I can't copy/paste from the QEMU window, or I'd provide the contents of that file; if that's needed, I can manually type the contents, or etc.)
