What I'm seeing is that an issue that affects Hurd only is fixed with a method
which affects all other architectures from Debian Ports. And that change wasn't
properly tested either.

That's unfortunate, but it's not particularly difficult to build custom Debian CD
image for architectures from Debian Ports due to the various improvements we made
in debian-cd.
