Re: Fwd: Debian Hurd Installer problems

Hi samuel,

Thanks for the new image - I can confirm that it has resolved the issue around keyboard layout selection. I just wanted to mention that I did notice that I can only select from 2 languages in the installation menu with this latest installer: C and English. i wasn't sure whether this was intended...

On the installation issues:
- After my last email I installed debian squeeze, with grub on the mbr on the hard drive, and both worked fine. I then proceeded to install the Hurd using Crosshurd (which worked like a charm, except that it didn't install Mach for some reason - I had to copy that into the boot dir manually). Upon booting the Hurd in single user more I once again ran into the driveseek, followed by ide0: succesful reset error. No luck that way.
- I proceeded to acquire a brand new hard drive (IDE ATA/100, 80GB), and tried to install Hurd using your newest image. Unfortunately I got exactly the same error, this time complaining about sector 14, rather than sector 2.

Can you think of any other possible causes for this problem, or might there be any other possible tests I could carry out to find out what might be causing the problem?

Thanks for your help so far!

Best wishes,
Alex
