How to build a bleeding edge Hurd package?

Hi,

Any ideas on how to combine Debian Hurd git and Upstream Hurd git to
build a bleeding edge Debian Hurd package? Diffing the file directories
shows a vast number of differences. It does not seem to be just building
from the Debian git directory, or copying the debian/ directory from the
Debian git directory to the upstream git directory and build there.
