That's what he means by "ghc6 6.8 most probably broken". I never had
problems build ghc6_6.6 using ghc6_6.6, nor when building ghc6_6.8 using
ghc6_6.6, but building ghc6_6.8 with ghc6_6.8 always failed for me.
That's why Pino proposes to just skip the 6.8 version and try something
more recently directly, from a linux ghc6.
