I hope this will be much better soon, as apparently glibc_2.6.1-1 is
going to be uploaded to unstable RSN, and I'll try to get it built and
uploaded for hurd-i386 ASAP.

Yes, although the fix is not in CVS or the Debian package yet, I think.
