Illegal instruction occurs at /bin/console -d vga -d pc_kbd --repeat=kbd
-d pc_mouse --repeat=mouse -c /dev/vcs.
When it was probed with gdb, it was as follows:

Hi,

Now that glibc_2.5-11 is available on ftp.debian.org and mirrors, this
bug should be fixed, please update to libc0.3_2.5-11.  If this bug still
occurs, please reopen it or file a new one.
