The problem is that this 'emusing' site's unsubscribe page is nonexistant, and searching the internet using a query like 'unsubscribe emusing' returns some debian-hurd archive pages (which started because some mallicious person apparently signed the list up for "daily smiles2send").

These are just clueless people that did a search and saw that other people had submitted their unsubscribe request to debian-hurd; they're not not trying to unsubscribe from debian-hurd.

For sure you ask for subscription. In this page you can read

"As part of the subscription process, the list software will send you an
email to which you must reply in order to finish subscribing."

So, don't tell what is not true, troll.
