console, xkb

Hello,

I have also a problem concerning the console, especially the use of xkb.
Using:

console -d vga -d pc_kbd --console-node=/dev/cons /dev/vcs

reattaches me to the console and anything works fine. Instead, if I use the
same with xkb:

console -d vga -d xkb --console-node=/dev/cons /dev/vcs

I get:

keycodes/xfree86:335:syntax error
console: loading driver 'xkb' failed: invalid argument

In X (using the the first command with repeaters, then 'startx' on the
console) the keyboardlayout is correct (as configured).
I tried xkb with several options in different variants but did not succed,
so
I gess something else on my system is perhaps wrong. Any ideas?
