Description: Currently, it is possible to extract passive translators from GNU/Linux via star using ext2's extended attributes (through a kernel patch by Roland McGrath). It would be nice if GNU tar would be able to do this as well. Marco Gerards has written some code and submitted it at http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-tar/2004-01/msg00041.html but Roland's patch supersedes this apparently.
