Ah! Now I think I got it: the _translator_ mmap all metadata - and for ext2fs this is the same as mmap'ing the whole partition.
If this is so, then: 1. Mach has nothing to do with it. 2. Adding another partition will not help. 3. My preview posts were completely wrong! Right? Andre Caldas.
