Boot problem @ /hurd/ext2fs.static
Hello list!
Since yesterday I have the Hurd running and so far I like it (very
interesting to start learning Hurd-hacking). There is just one glitch so
and I thought it might not hurd.. err... hurt to ask you about it.
When I try to boot using the module statements from the installation
instructions (I did copy and paste), it always hangs up. The message
where it hangs up is:
"start /hurd/ext2fs.static:"
right after loading the modules.
This is pasted from my menu.lst:
--- snip ---
title GNU/Hurd
root (hd0,1)
kernel /boot/gnumach.gz root=hd0s2
module /hurd/ext2fs.static
--multiboot-command-line=${kernel-command-line}
--host-priv-port=${host-port} --device-master-port=${device-port}
--exec-server-task=${exec-task} -T typed ${root} $(task-create)
$(task-resume)
module /lib/ld.so.1 /hurd/exec $(exec-task=task-create)
--- snip ---
The weird thing though is, that I could actually boot both single and
multiuser mode flawlessly when using the deprecated (that's what
Wolfgang told me) method of:
"module /boot/serverboot.gz"
So I can actually use the system but if this isn't right, I don't feel
good about it.
I used the gnu-latest tarball from two days ago.
My partition table looks like that:
---
Disk /dev/hda: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 1582 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 * 1 365 2931831 7 HPFS/NTFS
/dev/hda2 974 1071 787185 83 Linux
/dev/hda3 366 973 4883760 5 Extended
/dev/hda4 1551 1582 257040 82 Linux swap
/dev/hda5 366 973 4883728+ 83 Linux
---
Any ideas?
